Individual and Group Counseling

The Empowerment Agency provides individual and group therapy services. Our therapist team consist of independent (fully) and associate level licensed therapist who collaborative with clients to help achieve their desired goals. During the therapeutic process our therapists will collaborate with each client on processing their experiences (past and present) and identify patterns of behaviors and other key markers that may impact their mental and emotional wellbeing. Within each session, clients will learn new skills and self-care strategies to implement in real time into their lifestyle while working towards their desired goals. We help guide and support each person on their journey towards healing and restoration.

    Grief and Loss

    All individuals experience multiple types of grief and loss at some point within their lifespan. The term “Grief and loss” refer to the process one experiences due to the loss of a loved one (due to death or a relationship ending), the loss of an identity, pattern of behavior(s) and/or expectations. During grief and loss therapy, our therapist will focus on helping individuals understand their journey through grief, identify effective coping strategies and learn how to thrive while living with the loss(es).

    Trauma

    Trauma therapy focuses on helping individuals identify episodes of trauma and work towards healing. Trauma impacts individuals differently resulting in changes in mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual wellness. Often, the impact of trauma may go unnoticed as being trauma related until the dots are connected to specific incidents and changes within the individual. Trauma focused therapy helps individuals process the trauma, understand how it has impacted their lifestyle and identify strategies to help them heal and move towards recovery and wellbeing. We offer trauma informed care and evidenced based trauma therapy modalities such as Eye-movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), mindfulness, and Restorative Retelling.

    Addiction

    46.3 million people aged 12 or older (or 16.5 percent of the population) met the applicable DSM-5 criteria for having a substance use disorder in 2020. Addiction therapy helps assess and address the needs of individuals who are living with addiction to substances, food, gaming, sex and other patterns of behaviors that impacts one’s daily living activities, health, and interpersonal relationships. Working with individuals who are experiencing addiction, require specialized training and care to educate, develop life-skills, and move individuals towards a life of recovery.     Relationship Issues

    Relationships with the self and others are one of the most significant factors that impact one’s wellbeing. It is reported that those more socially connected to family, friends, and their community are happier, physically healthier, live a longer lifespan and experience fewer mental health challenges. In addition to promoting healthy relationships, therapy services are also provided to address issues related to domestic violence (gender-based violence), sexual assault, family therapy, boundaries, self-esteem, identity, and other topics.

    Anxiety and Stress Management

    All individuals experience stress as a part of their lifestyle. However, increased levels of stress or chronic stress has a negative impact on one’s mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual wellbeing. Due to increased stress individuals report experiencing higher levels of anxiety, depression, and other mental and physical health conditions. Our therapists help identify triggers related to stress and develop a comprehensive self-care plan to promote recovery and wellbeing. Upon completion, individuals report a decrease in negative symptoms related to stress, burnout and compassion fatigue, and an increase in life satisfaction and wellbeing.

    Black Women

    Black women often are referred to as ‘strong black woman’, ‘superheroes’, and other self and society-fulling prophecies leading to burnout, exhaustion, and an inability to pause and REST. Researchers often document various social determinants of health negatively impacting black women resulting in lower health outcomes, premature mortality, and an increase in undiagnosed or untreated mental and physical health conditions. Our goal is to provide a safe space for black woman to take a ‘selah’ moment and unpack their experiences through one’s authentic voice; develop a customized plan of action to help navigate identified challenges; and create a self-care plan to promote recovery and resilience.

    Racial Trauma

    Racial trauma, or race-based traumatic stress (RBTS), refers to the mental and emotional injury caused by encounters with racial bias and ethnic discrimination, racism, and hate crimes. Any individual that has experienced or witnessed (in person or via news, audio, or social media) an emotionally painful, sudden, and uncontrollable racist encounter is at risk of suffering from a race-based traumatic stress injury. In recent years, we have seen a rise in incidents of racial trauma among various ethnicities and cultures nationally and internationally. Our therapists help educate individuals on the impact of RBTS on their wellbeing and identify strategies that promote recovery and resilience.

    Self-care/Wellbeing

    Self-care is the key to wellbeing. Our therapists focus on helping individuals develop a comprehensive self-care plan to address the following pillars: mental wellness, emotional wellness, physical wellness, spiritual wellness, financial wellness, personal development, and community engagement. In a world where many things are out of our control, our ability to take care of ourselves in the one thing we have control over. Our self-care plans focus on effective strategies that individuals can integrate into their lifestyle to help promote resiliency, greater health outcomes, and joy!

    Executive Coaching

    Our coaches provide executive coaching to support highly motivated and achievement-orientated professionals who are looking for an ‘edge’ to take their careers to the next level. Our coaches specialize in supporting clients as they develop the leadership, performance strategies and high-level skills necessary to succeed and obtain their goals. In addition to professional goals, our coaches assure that each client completes a comprehensive self-care plan to support and enhance their overall performance and wellbeing. The following themes may also arise during executive coaching: work-life integration, boundaries, effective team-building and other workplace topics.

  • Hours

    Hours are by appointment only. Our office provides early morning, day and evening appointments to accommodate our clients’ schedules. We also have appoints available on Saturday & Sundays. Upon scheduling an intake session with a therapist, inquire about their general availability to determine if the schedule of availability meets your needs. We currently use online scheduling for appointments.

    Sessions are offered in person located at 1843 Peeler Rd Ste. C, Dunwoody, GA 30338 and virtually via HIPAA compliant software.

  • Payment Details

    Each session fee is $165 for individual counseling sessions. Specialized modalities and treatment options may have a higher rate due to training and/or specific tools used during sessions.

    New Client Intake appointments are $200.00. Intake appointments are scheduled for 75 minutes.

    We do offer a few slots for individuals meeting the financial criteria for a sliding fee scale. Documentation of income will be requested. Please ask about this option when scheduling your intake appointment.

    Clients can also opt to have a 3rd party pay for their counseling services. This includes their employer, a private agency, church, family member, etc. Once we have a release of information, the office can work with the 3rd party to ensure that payment is timely. Please have that 3rd party contact our office to set up billing and payment once a release of information has been completed. This is a very common option!

"The Gathering"

Join us for our bimonthly support group for women of color. The Gathering was created with "her" in mind as an oasis for women to take off their capes, be vulnerable and learn life-skills on how to cope with every day stressors. "Walk It Out"

The Empowerment Agency offers a walk and talk therapy program titled "Walk It Out". Walk It Out provides clients with a therapeutic outdoors experience with optimal results. Research shows that talk therapy is beneficial to addressing social, emotional and mental health conditions. For centuries, we have been advised to walk for at least 30 minutes per day to release endorphins, reduce stress and improve overall mood. Walk and Talk therapy provides the best of both worlds.

Due to the structure of the program and special considerations, during the initial consult, issues related to current health status, confidentiality and other important topics will be discussed. Currently this service is offered in the metro Atlanta area only. Each session is 50 minutes and based on each therapists clinical rate.

* Additional time may be given with price adjustments on a case by case basis. This will allot extended time for sessions that require more than 50 minutes to complete.

Clinical Case Consultations

Clinical Consultations are offered to individuals, mental health professionals, attorneys and others seeking professional recommendations regarding clinical care and treatment. Areas of expertise included but are not limited to crisis intervention, suicidality, elderly clinical care, behavioral health treatment (mental health and substance use disorder), domestic violence and trauma.
